Hong Kong Ranked 18th Best Travel Destination
By Cathy Wu
For the second year in a row, Hong Kong was the only city in Greater China to make it onto TripAdvisor's annual list of the world's top 25 travel destinations.
This year, Hong Kong ranked 18th in the Travelers' Choice Awards. On Trip Advisor’s website, Hong Kong was described as boasting “delectable dim sum, floating islands, and a one-of-a-kind skyline." It's an improvement from last year's ranking, when it just barely squeezed into the top 25 at 23rd.
London tops this year's list, jumping up five spots from last year. Istanbul came in second while last year's winner, Marrakech, landed in third. Other Asian cities on the list included Siem Reap, Hanoi, Ubud, Dubai, Bangkok, Tokyo and Kathmandu. Beijing and Shanghai, which last made appearances in 2014 at fourth and tenth respectively, once again failed to secure spots in the top 25.
The list is compiled based on millions of reviews from travellers. Data of quantity and quality of reviews, ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions over a twelve-month period are all taken into consideration.
